Welcome to a world of wedding ramblings.
Here you'll typically find an array of topics from fun, inspirational posts to a more thoughtful perspective on something topical.
There's no particular order or continuity to my blogging (sorry!) I just share my thoughts with you as and when they come to me. or I need to get something off my chest.
If there is anything in particular you'd like my take on then just let me know!
I have the pleasure of working with Cowdray House at the moment for a 3 day event later this year; and that’s exactly what it is, a pleasure. The team here are super helpful and house manager Sam lives by the motto of never wanting to say no – if there’s a will there is a way, and I’m yet to propose something that can’t be accommodated, and believe me, I’ve asked a fair few questions!
If you’re looking for an English country wedding venue then this historic manor house should certainly be considered! The main house is set in a 16,500 acre estate; there is accommodation for 44 people within the house’s 22 bedrooms however there is more accommodation across the estate in various cottages and treehouses so additonal guests can remain closeby. The estate also has a farm shop, cafe, golf course, woodlands and the famous polo club and it’s possible to organise numerous activities within the grounds, so there is plenty for your guests to explore and enjoy during their stay.
Despite the expansive estate, Cowdray House feels like an intimate venue to use exclusively with your family and friends. You can really make the space your own and treat it like your home from home for the few days of your stay. Whilst it’s not a hotel, the team are always around and there to make sure you’re well looked after. It’s also possible to organise butlers or private chefs should you wish to have them around your wedding events.
The house centres around The Buck Hall, an impressive room with high ceilings and historic features which is the main event space for your wedding. The seated capacity in this room is 150; for numbers beyond that or in bad-weather a marquee may be required so this should be considered. The room oozes character and whilst it would look equally gorgeous for a summer event I think it really lends itself to winter weddings and atmospheric parties.
The venue has plenty to entertain your guests in both summer or winter; the house boasts indoor and outdoor pools, a croquet lawn, a Billiards room and my personal favourite – a secret bowling alley! These are at your guests disposal without you having to do anything extra, but should you wish to put on any additional activities you can organise archery, shooting, pottery and much more!
I’ve focused on Cowdray House, but another wedding option is the Walled Garden, perfect for summer and located next to the estates ruins, which make a beautiful backdrop to your day.
