Welcome to a world of wedding ramblings.
Here you'll typically find an array of topics from fun, inspirational posts to a more thoughtful perspective on something topical.
There's no particular order or continuity to my blogging (sorry!) I just share my thoughts with you as and when they come to me. or I need to get something off my chest.
If there is anything in particular you'd like my take on then just let me know!
It’s not often I get truly excited about wedding venues; as beautiful as they normally are, I have seen a lot over the years so it takes a lot to really WOW me but let me introduce you to Limekiln…a venue that absolutely WOWed me.
Sister property to the beautiful Kin House, there isn’t a single space in Limekiln that hasn’t been carefully considered. Warm yet subtle paint colours throughout, interesting and fun wallpapers, unique furniture and upholstery, gorgeous tiles and fixtures and fittings that make an impact and statement pieces – from the bar to the sink! Everywhere you look there is a beautiful detail and yet nothing feels over the top. It just looks like it’s supposed to be there and achieving that is a skill.
There is no accommodation onsite at Limekiln (perhaps it’s only drawback if you want to be picky!) but there is a gorgeous apartment for you to get ready on the morning of your wedding. It’s split into a main lounge area, a dressing room and perhaps my favourite space…the salon/bathroom!
Did you see that bath?! Imagine having a leisurely soak whilst sipping champagne on the morning of your wedding – you would simply have to make time for it once you’ve seen the space!
Also in this room is the salon, as I like to call it, with great lighting and ample areas for hair and make up artists to do their thing, so you and the girls can be comfortable whilst getting ready, setting the mood for the rest of the day.
One little touch that I love in this area is the secret one-way window that overlooks the ceremony room. When I said there is nothing that hasn’t been considered, this is the perfect example. You can watch your guests arriving, building the excitement even more, all whilst safe in the knowledge they can’t see you.
When your guests arrive they’ll be welcomed into this central courtyard. With a little Mediterranean feel it has a relaxing vibe with bistrot sets and pretty sun umbrellas. It’s the perfect spot for an arrival drink, as it’s close to the entrance and one of the recommended ceremony rooms.
There are several lovely spaces to use throughout your day, including the The Alder Room, Poplar Hall and the luscious gardens, but there are two areas in particular that have to get a special shout out.
The first of which is The Lodge. If you have seen anything about Limekiln before, you would have seen it’s infamous bar.
She stands proudly in the centre of the Lodge and rightly so as what a statement piece she is!
This area feels intimate and welcoming; the large windows and doors open onto the venues terrace and gardens, making this the ideal location for a post ceremony drinks and canape reception.
The second space I want to give special mention to is the party area.
Like everywhere in Limekiln, this just gets it right. A pretty blank canvas so you have plenty of room for your dancefloor and choice of musicians, a touch of unique, cosy furniture, statement chandeliers and a paint colour that’s more than your average neutral but offers that intimate feeling you want in a party space.
My only slight hesitation is that there isn’t a bar in this room (yet) but it can be forgiven as that stunning bar we saw earlier is just outside, and any excuse to go there…
In summary, I would absolutely LOVE to plan a wedding here. When I met with the team earlier this year I just got good feelings. They were friendly, knowledgable and flexible and I came away thinking they’d be a pleasure to work with. I felt assured my couples day would be in good hands here, which is important.
Another good feeling was their general ethos. Limekiln struck me as somewhere who look after their team, and where they can be they’re sustainable which is always nice.
New to the wedding market in 2024, I have no doubt that this venue is going to be a huge hit! For the standard of the venue the rates are really quite reasonable; once they’ve found their feet and the venue soars in popularity I would expect to see a bit of an increase, so if you’re considering getting married in 2025 then you could absolutely benefit from some introductory pricing.
To discuss Limekiln in more detail, and find out whether it could be suitable for your guest numbers and preferences then do drop me an email on weddings@emilycharlotte.co.uk – I’m sure you can tell, I would just LOVE to hear from you!
Looks like a lovely space!
