Welcome to a world of wedding ramblings.
Here you'll typically find an array of topics from fun, inspirational posts to a more thoughtful perspective on something topical.
There's no particular order or continuity to my blogging (sorry!) I just share my thoughts with you as and when they come to me. or I need to get something off my chest.
If there is anything in particular you'd like my take on then just let me know!
At the end of last year I headed to Millbridge Court, a popular wedding venue in the Surrey Countryside. Here’s a few things I loved about it…
The whole property is taken in exclusive use, meaning your wedding is completely private (yay!) Everything can take place onsite too – getting ready (more on this later!), civil ceremony, reception and there’s even some accommodation – so it’s super easy and you don’t have to worry about getting from A to B.
There are 7 beautifully designed bedrooms onsite, simple but very tastefully done, which are perfect for either close family or the bridal party. These are available on the day of your wedding and are automatically reserved for you on booking of the venue.
Millbridge Court – bedroom
The main wedding rooms are two large, bright airy blank canvases – ideal for making the space your own.
The two (what I like to call) ‘barn rooms’ are available for your day; one for the ceremony/dancing, and one for the dinner. They’re pretty much identical, and have a similar feeling to a barn, but are much more modern and far less rustic!
I love how plain they are as this allows for versatility and your design choices.
In my opinion, the whole venue is really well designed; you enter into a space which has a rather homely feel to it. Sofas and lounge areas make it the perfect place for guests to wait for your ceremony to start. From there, everything then flows towards the ceremony and reception spaces.
What I love the most is the little details around the place – there’s a lot of contemporary touches and design which provide character, but the venue feels modern, clean and uncluttered.
This venue is a great size; there are a variety of spaces that can be used, not to mention the garden area if you’re lucky with the weather, so there are options for the day, but it’s not so huge that you loose the feeling of intimacy.
The maximum capacity for day guests is 150, with this increasing to 200 for the evening.
One of Millbridge Court’s best features is it’s getting ready space for the bride and her girls – every venue should have one of these! More often than not the bride, her bridesmaids, mum and mother in law all pack into one small hotel room which soon becomes a chaotic cloud of hairspray, clothing and goodness knows what else us ladies use to get ready!
Here there is a large room with brightly lit mirrors, individual dressing tables, chill out chairs and best of all, a one way window which peers down onto the ceremony area, so you can see your groom anxiously awaiting your arrival!
When it’s all over, you and your new husband can retreat to the hideaway – a cute little cabin room at the end of the garden. It’s onsite, but away from the main building, so you’re staying with your guests but with the privacy that every newly married couple deserve!
