Welcome to a world of wedding ramblings.
Here you'll typically find an array of topics from fun, inspirational posts to a more thoughtful perspective on something topical.
There's no particular order or continuity to my blogging (sorry!) I just share my thoughts with you as and when they come to me. or I need to get something off my chest.
If there is anything in particular you'd like my take on then just let me know!
Last weekend I spotted a Lulu Guiness outfit that I LOVED which got me thinking about how to be the best dressed wedding guest without looking like you’re trying to steal the bride’s thunder. Here’s my top 5 wedding guest outfits…
Bag by Lulu Guiness
I’ve mentioned this Lulu Guiness outfit but my only hesitation was the white cami. Everyone knows (or should know!) that wearing white to a wedding is an absolute no-no. However, whilst I would never recommend an all white outfit, I feel this is more than acceptable if you are the brides best friend (unless of course you should be wearing a bridesmaid dress!) Combined with the gorgeous pink skirt and clutch, it doesn’t look like you’re trying to take anything away from the bride, and as her best mate she’ll appreciate that it’s a fab choice of outfit.
If you’re not quite as close to the bride then I’d suggest changing the cami for one that’s light grey or cream, same great look and there’s no risk of you offending anyone!
Dress by Aidan Mattox
Unfortunately there are several MOB outfits about that are just too frumpy. Who says that because you’re the MOB you have to wear a mid-length, ruffled dress with matching cropped jacket? Last time I checked this was no set rule. You can still look sophisticated without turning old fashioned.
This striking dress is by Aidan Mattox; the colour is classic and the detail means you’ll stand out, which is important as MOB. If you’re conscious about your arms then the little sleeve will help deflect.
Jumpsuit by ASOS
It can be a little bit awkward if you’re an evening only guest (turning up before the over-running speeches and dinner have finished, everyone discussing how lovely the ceremony was…..) so the last thing you want is any outfit mishaps.
This jumpsuit from ASOS is a bit more casual, which is appropriate for the evening only, but teamed with the right accessories will look spot on. I would add either a belt or a statement necklace to dress it up, and the colour of your bag/shoes is key to prevent this looking too informal. I’d suggest either metallic or nude.
Dress by Ted Baker
You know the bride or groom through work, but besides the other office attendees you’re not going to know anyone at the wedding. So what do you wear? You don’t want to be over dressed but you want to make an effort…it is a wedding after all.
I think this dress from Ted Baker is the perfect answer. It’s pretty, smart and understated. But best of all, if you’re begrudging having to buy a new outfit, you can be sure that you’ll wear this one again. You can keep it simple with black shoes and a bag or choose to pick up one of the beautiful colours in the skirt.
Dress by ASOS
The majority of guests will fit into this category, the plus ones, the family friends, the relatives…so finding an outfit that suits all is tricky.
I’ve gone for this one from ASOS; it’s not your everyday dress so it’s special enough for a wedding plus the shorter layer underneath keeps it fun and flirty.
